Choosing friends …

The prophet Mohamed PBUH said:

‘A good friend and a bad friend are like a perfume-seller and a blacksmith: The perfume-seller might give you some perfume as a gift, or you might buy some from him, or at least you might smell its fragrance. As for the blacksmith, he might singe your clothes or at the very least you will breathe in the fumes of the furnace.”

[sahih al-Bukhari, vol 3, #314 & Muslim]

Subhan Allah what a beautiful analogy. Good friends always bring out the best in you, and encourage the best from you.

Yes, exactly and that's how Muslim brothers and sisters have to be, whilst picking the good ones among them would be the trick.

Yes, you're right Ahmed, finding good friends is pretty hard these days and as you said moving to the internet is very deceptive as you can't completely get around the person's character and mostly there are going to be surprises.
